Yo La Tengo vs. The World

Ya gotta love 'em: check out the new multimedia extravaganza (an indie rock answer to viral marketing) of www.iamnotafraidofyouandiwillbeatyourass.com. Praise YLT! The new album comes out next Tuesday, and they'll be at First Avenue on Saturday, October 8. The Long Winters will be at the Triple Rock that same night, which is a shame because I loooooooove their new album. It's the barm.
Ooh, I'm totally gonna go see The Long Winters. We can compare notes after the shows.

You're gonna skip YLT???? I don't know what to do, I've been listening to this record over and over again and I love it. I think you'd like it a lot too.

I've been yearning to see YLT for so long. I do really dig The Long Winters too. crap! However YLT doors are 8pm, Triple Rock says 10pm. Maybe we can do both?
Mates of State and Starlight Mints and Askeleton are playing 1st Ave thursday, all ages.

They did the music for a film that's just come out called "Old Joy" or so I read today. Does anyone know anything about that?

Yep! It played here but on a night we couldn't go, I think at Sound Unseen. Will Oldham (Bonnie "Prince" Billy) starred!
Can't make Mates of State, I don't think. Honestly they make me tired, anyway. I can only handle about four songs.
I'd like to try to make it to both shows but I suspect I won't be able to manage. Maybe if we have a convoy.
"I'm getting too old for this shit." Ha ha ha!

Crystal - I'd totally be down for going to both shows! That's going to be a particularly crappy day for me (in the afternoon) so these shows will be a welcome distraction. But especially YLT. I've been a long-time fan, yet have never seen 'em. Shameful, I know.

Why am I not at the Calexico show right now? Dammit. Yo La Tengo is Saturday October 7th (seventh), also, I screwed that up. Still the same night as the Long Winters. I love both, and I've seen YLT a bunch, but they're so loveable I'd hate to miss it. Hard to imagine I could do both shows, though, especially since I have to work that Sunday (blech). On the bright side, that should be my last Sunday ever, or at least for a long, long time.
